Why Cornerstone

We read the fine print so you don't have to find out about a gap at claim time.

There are hundreds of insurance brokerages in Ontario. Most sell the same products. What differs is who reviews the policy, who answers when you call, and who fights for you when a claim is disputed.

01

30+ carrier relationships

We hold direct placement authority with more than 30 commercial insurers — standard markets, specialty markets, and surplus lines. That means we compete for your premium, rather than placing it on autopilot with one carrier.

02

Named advisor, not a ticket queue

Every Cornerstone client is assigned a named senior advisor who built their policy and owns the relationship. When something changes mid-term — a new vehicle, a new lease, a new contract — you email one person, not a call centre.

03

Claims advocacy from first notice

Your advisor is your advocate through every step of a claim — from first notice to final payment. We review the adjuster's position, push back when we disagree, and document everything. Most clients never speak to the carrier's adjuster directly.

04

Annual re-specification, not auto-renewal

Every policy is re-drawn at renewal based on your current operations, not last year's. If your payroll grew, your fleet changed, or you signed a new contract, the renewal reflects that. Auto-renewing a stale policy is one of the most common ways businesses end up under-insured.

05

Plain-language policy summaries

Every client receives a plain-language summary of their coverage — what's in, what's out, and what the key limits are. No 40-page policy documents handed over without explanation.

06

Same-day certificates

Need to provide a certificate of insurance for a client, landlord, or general contractor? We issue them same-day. Most requests are completed within two hours of receiving the details.

Our History

Thirty-seven years of keeping businesses protected.

Cornerstone was founded in 1987 by a commercial claims adjuster who spent a decade watching businesses find out their coverage had gaps — at the worst possible moment. The firm was built around a single premise: the brokerage should review a policy the way a claims adjuster would, before it's bound, not after a loss is filed.

Today, Cornerstone operates entirely online — no physical office, no overhead passed to clients — with licensed advisors serving commercial accounts across Ontario. Our carrier panel spans the country's largest standard insurers to specialty markets for hard-to-place risks.
